I Crawdaddys nascono per mano di Ron Silva e Steve Potterf a San Diego, in California nel 1978. Nel 1979 pubblicano il loro primo album Crawdaddy Express sulla Voxx di Greg Shaw (R.I.P.). Nei primi mesi del 1980 pubblicano due 7” sempre su Voxx.
